Beyond Bodies: Ecosomatics and the Path to Collective Liberation

Our bodies hold stories - not just personal ones, but stories of our connection to land, community, and the living world around us. This is where ecosomatics reminds us that our wellbeing is deeply connected to the health of our ecosystems and communities.

When forests are cut down, communities feel it in their bones. When waters are polluted, that trauma lives in people's bodies. Our nervous systems are registering not just personal stress, but planetary distress.

And our bodies hold deep wisdom about healing. When we reconnect with land, water, and living systems, something shifts. Communities practicing traditional ecological knowledge often report better health outcomes. People engaging in land-based healing practices find new ways to process trauma.

This means social justice work needs to consider the mycelial, rhizomal earth-body connection. Real change happens when we:

- Honour traditional ecological knowledge

- Support land-based healing practices

- Recognize environmental and social justice as interconnected

- Create spaces for collective healing in nature

True liberation means healing not just social systems, but our relationship with the living world that holds us all.
